      Painter, mixed media, collage artist, and professor, Janet Taylor Pickett is known for using the dress form as an iconic template to respond to life's profound : Montclair Art Museum.   Janet Taylor Pickett an artist featured in Riffs and Relations: African American Artists and the European Modernist Tradition, teaches a collage how to create collages that are based on personal biography using photographs and other inspiring images from old magazines and books that promote memory.

    Riffs and Relations: Riffs and Relations is the recipient of the fifth Annual James A. Porter & David C. Driskell Book Award from the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visuals Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at Janet Taylor Pickett Martin Puryear Winold Reiss Faith Ringgold Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. Janet Taylor Pickett returns to her longtime hometown with “The Matisse Series” at the Montclair Art Museum. She plays on French artist Henri Matisse’s joyful use of color and pattern, as well as his African inspiration. Curator and gallery owner Kathy Imlay joins Janet, and they show how the artist uses the dress shape as a central.
